Serve Receive: the Funny Setup

Note the overlap rules: Kelley as the left back position cannot be closer to the net than Ratna (Left Front) or further right than Marty (Middle Back). It is ok for her to be closer to the net than Amber who is Middle Front.

After the serve, Kelley releases to her normal setting spot (when she is setting from the back row) and, after the pass is initiated, everyone moves into attack/coverage positions. I may have messed up slightly in the back row part of the diagram. As middle back, Roger probably needs to rotate over and move up to provide coverage while Kelley is setting; then, as she retreats to playing right back, he can move to the baseline.

History

The Edge was formed by Jerry Grimes in September of 1999. Tim Yao took over the captaincy in December of 1999. Kwang Min, Mike Wu and Kelley Neal were the core of the team; Ruth Holden (S) and Panagiotis Spentzouris (MH) joined for the spring 2000 team. Ruth moved over to the Thursday league team (the Other Edge) in the fall of 2002. She then left for California after the end of the spring 2003 season. More will be added here as time permits.
